2 Tickets to Zephyrus Concert

Zephyrus is a Charlottesville-based vocal ensemble that performs music from the medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque eras, and sometimes modern works as well. Founded in 1991, Zephyrus takes its name from a medieval English poem, “Westron Wind,” which inspired composer John Taverner’s early 16h-century “Western Wind Mass.” Megan Sharp directs the group of 16-20 singers.

Zephyrus recreates the sounds of a 17th-century Christmas in Rome with music by two of the most famous musicians employed at the Sistine Chapel—Giovanni Pierluigi Palestrina and Girolamo Frescobaldi—as well as their colleague Tomás Luis de Victoria. The featured work is Palestrina’s joyful Missa Hodie Christus natus est for eight-part double choir, based on the composer’s motet of the same name.

The tickets are for either venue and have a value of $20 each.
